Bulbarrow Navigators Social Ride Sunday 22 July 2012

22nd July 2012

Of the 25 starters at today’s ride, only 3 opted for the longer, 40km route and the last riders set off from the venue at around 11.15am.

There were a couple of minor incidents en route that resulted in riders retiring and either walking back in or being collected and some, having navigated their way around the majority of the route, selected their own course back to the venue! All were just delighted to be able to be out and about at a ride after so many disappointing cancellations.

Lisa Langish’s mother, brother and sister-in-law very kindly took on the catering job, much appreciated by crews and helpers left behind at the venue, and by the returning riders.

Local riders Kathy Westby and Sam Johnson - first back to the venue

Joint winners of the riders’ quiz, compiled by Ride Organiser Janthea Newman to test map-reading skills, were Sue Thomson (on her own - or did Frank help?!), Sue Rimes (possibly with Ian's help?) and the duo of Fiona Faulkner and Nicola Sibley, and in the non-riding section the afore-mentioned ‘Crazy Caterers’ came out on top with Judy Baynes’ grand-daughter Katie taking the prize for being the youngest person to make an entry (with a little help from Granny!)

Many, many thanks go to the Batchelors for their generous loan of the venue at Bulbarrow Farm and to Janthea for organising the event which, hopefully, could well be repeated again in the future.

... and a message from Rosemary Henderson below ...

Val Jones telling RO Janthea all about it!
